JOIN OUR CALL FOR A FULL AND OPEN INVESTIGATION!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Please sign our petition for a full and open investigation into the shooting death of Surafel Assaminew, a 30-year old Electrical Engineering student. Surafel was shot multiple times in broad daylight on September 16th, 2003 by two police officers while standing in the driveway close to his home. He was unarmed except for a 4 inch by 4 inch by 4 foot piece of wood.
Surafel was a talented student, musician and lyricist and a peace-loving individual. He has also written a children's language book, Quncho which he donated to a local church. Surafel was diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder in 2000 and although he suffered from this illness he remained steadfast in his desire to pursue his education. Surafel Assaminew was slated to graduate in December from Southern Polytechnic in Marietta, Georgia with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
We the petitioners are concerned with the excessive use of force used on this young man, and are calling for a full and open investigation into the matter. To date over 5,000 individuals from around the world have signed our petition. Please join us in our pursuit of the facts and our quest for justice and sign below.
Sincerely,
Advocates for Surafel Assaminew
